Genre: Blues / Rock / Pop
Hails from: Toronto, Canada |
Based in: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
Originally from Toronto, Canada, Chrystyna Marie is a classically trained singer-songwriter whose voice has been described as “a powder keg” — a raw, soulful force that channels the grit of Janis Joplin and Etta James, balanced with the modern pop sensibility of artists like Christina Aguilera and Selena.
Writing and performing since the age of 12, Chrystyna took first place in the Kiwanis Music Festival two years running and began working as a demo vocalist for independent labels by age 18. She also starred in lead roles in community theatre productions — including Maria in West Side Story and Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz — and later served as the lead singer for the Los Angeles-based pop group Greencat.

After pursuing a record deal in California and walking away from multiple label offers to retain full creative control, Chrystyna returned as an independent artist — determined to make music entirely on her own terms. Her sound fuses grungy blues, driving rock, and hook-laden pop, with lyrics that are deeply personal and unflinchingly honest — exploring themes of heartbreak, addiction, resilience, and self-discovery.
She made her solo debut in February 2016 with the Loaded Gun EP — a 4-track introduction featuring the gritty title single Loaded Gun (written about a real-life relationship with an ex-fiancé struggling with addiction), alongside Down the Road, No More, and the haunting piano ballad The Tower. Her debut full-length album LIFE followed in July 2017, an 8-song collection spanning smoky blues, rock swagger, and soulful balladry — featuring standout tracks Mama’s Blues, A Woman Knows, Mr. Insecurity, and the punchy I Want That Boom Boom.
Now based in Pennsylvania, Chrystyna continues writing, recording, and performing independently — completely self-made, fiercely authentic, and unapologetically real. Her music has been featured and reviewed by Huffington Post, AudioFemme, Louder Than War, Skope Mag, Vents Magazine, and many others.
On her music, Chrystyna says: “Breath is life, and life is music. I wanted to create music from personal experiences and true emotions — something the everyday person can relate to and build strength from.”
