Genre: Singer-Songwriter / Folk-Pop

Based: West London, United Kingdom

West London-based Simon Clothier is a one-of-a-kind British artist — a singer-songwriter, ukulele virtuoso, and lifelong builder whose music is as authentic, solid, and heartfelt as the hands that craft it. Once dubbed “The Singing Builder” by ITV, he has spent his life balancing two worlds — working on landmark construction projects including Wembley Stadium and the London 2012 Olympic builds, while quietly writing songs that would eventually travel the globe.

His music centres around the ukulele — the instrument that became his signature and his voice. He is the only European artist endorsed by legendary Hawaiian ukulele makers KoAloha, standing alongside Grammy winner Daniel Ho on their international roster. That connection took him to Honolulu, where he made history as the first European to perform at the Ukulele Festival of Hawaii, sharing the stage with Jack Johnson and introducing his music to a global audience.

His 2012 debut album Songs From A Small Guitar — released via Glider Records — introduced his warm, melodic folk-pop style, featuring favourites like I Fall For You, Nigella, and Just Saying. Recorded with top-tier musicians including producer Curtis Schwartz, the album cemented his reputation as a songwriter of charm, wit, and emotional depth.

But it is his most recent work that has truly resonated beyond music. Released July 2026, What Am I To Do was written in just 15 minutes in the raw aftermath of his wife’s breast cancer diagnosis — a song about fear, helplessness, and the quiet strength of standing by someone you love. Recorded at London’s iconic RAK Studios with producer Simon Allen, the track has sparked an extraordinary global conversation, particularly among men who found the lyrics giving voice to emotions they struggled to express.

“Many of us aren’t very good at talking about what’s going on inside,” Simon has said. “We want to be strong, and sometimes we don’t know where to put all the fear and emotion. If this song helps one person feel less alone, it’s done what it needed to do.”

Equal parts craftsman and creator, Simon Clothier builds his music the same way he builds everything — from the ground up, with care, honesty, and no shortcuts. His music is available on all major streaming platforms.
