Ted “Theo” Perlman is a remarkably versatile Grammy Award-winning musician, producer, songwriter and arranger whose career has touched every corner of the music world. Born Theodore Perlman on November 21, 1953 in New York, he has spent decades working alongside some of the most legendary names in entertainment, earning the deep respect of artists, producers and industry leaders alike.
He is a gifted guitarist and bassist as well as a talented composer and producer, bringing an extraordinary range of skills to every project he touches. He moves effortlessly between instruments and styles, making him one of the most in-demand collaborators in the business.
Ted toured and recorded with the legendary Bob Dylan, an experience that placed him among the finest musicians of his generation. That alone would be a career highlight for most — but for Ted, it was just one of many extraordinary chapters in a life spent making music.
He collaborated closely with the incomparable Burt Bacharach, and together they won a Grammy Award for the acclaimed album At This Time. Working alongside musical royalty like Bacharach showed the depth of Ted’s own musical genius.
His long list of collaborators reads like a who’s who of music history: Whitney Houston, Ringo Starr, Elton John, Diana Ross, Joe Cocker, Dolly Parton, Brian Wilson, Ron Wood, Mary J. Blige, Garth Brooks, Jermaine Jackson and Natalie Cole, to name just a few. Each one of these legends sought out Ted’s talent, his vision, and his musicianship.

Ted co-wrote and arranged Neil Sedaka’s iconic number-one hit “Laughter in the Rain”, a song that has become a timeless classic known and loved by millions. He also contributed the memorable guitar solo on Brian Wilson’s “What Love Can Do”, adding his own magic to a track by one of his personal heroes.
His musical palette knows no boundaries — his work spans pop, rock, R&B, soul, jazz, country, Latin and gospel. Whatever the genre, Ted brings the same passion, precision and heart to every note he plays and every song he creates.
His influence extends well beyond the studio and stage. Ted’s music has been featured in major motion pictures, broadcast during the Super Bowl, the MLB World Series, and on top-rated television shows watched by millions around the world.
His production and composition work has also appeared in campaigns for global brands including Mercedes-Benz, Coca-Cola, Budweiser and McDonald’s, bringing his creative sound to audiences far beyond the music industry. He truly is everywhere you look.
